Al Ahly are the 2023 BAL champions!
Egyptian team Al Ahly emerged victorious in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2023 after the final against AS Douanes. The game took place at the BK Arena and concluded with a final score of 80-65 in favor of Al Ahly.
The first half of the match witnessed low scoring, with Al Ahly heading to the locker room with a narrow 38-33 lead. However, in the third quarter, Al Ahly delivered a devastating blow as Corey Webster and Ehab Amin scored two three-pointers, establishing a commanding 57-44 lead that AS Douanes couldn't overcome.
Nuni Omot, a key player for Al Ahly, led his team to victory with an impressive top score of 22 points. He was honored with the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the BAL 2023, adding to his earlier achievement of leading South Sudan to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
With this win, Al Ahly becomes the second Egyptian team to collect the BAL title since the tournament's inception. With the win Al Ahly earned the right to represent Africa at the next edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
