Schelde Sports' Limited Edition Backstops
If you visit Paris in 3 weeks you will find a city decorated with the Olympic Rings, amazing venues and exciting games. Our work for the Olympics started quite some time ago. As Ron Larmit, Manager of Schelde Sports tells:
“A process towards the Olympics starts roughly 4 years in advance, when we are appointed as supplier. Most of the workload on our side starts with 2 years to go before the event. As our technicians need to be present during the games, the planning for this + hotels are already booked well in advance. Another important step in preparation is the LOG = Look of the Games, in which we decide together with the organizing committee how the equipment will look”.
Since the Paris Olympics have their own branding, we created multiple Schelde Sports backstops with a special Olympic branding for 5x5 and 3x3 basketball. As a company it always makes us proud to see our product all ready with the branding of the Olympics on it. “These limited edition backstops are for sale after the event, but the 3x3 backstops are already sold out” Ron tells “But you can still get your own Limited edition backstop from the Olympics, since we have some 5x5 backstops left”. But it’s better not to wait too long, since 62% is already sold out. Who wouldn’t want to play on a Olympic backstop? We would!
Our technicians
Back in September ’23 ago our technicians where already present during the Olympic test event in which the routines of transition/setup/dismantle are all tested. For these Games it’s necessary to change the fit out of the stadiums from one sport to another in a very short time frame. The whole change went extremely well during the test event, so we are ready to do it for real! In less than 17 hours the location was completely transformed from a full gymnastics arena to a basketball venue. This collaboration from our technicians and the teams in Paris is something we are really proud of. It shows that they are 100% ready to make sure everything in Paris goes according to plan. That’s also why 9 technicians are traveling to Paris in 2 weeks. They will attend the games so make sure everything goes according to plan!

At what places during the games can you spot us?
For the 3x3 basketball games you can visit the urban park at Place de la Concorde. Besides 3x3 basketball games at this venue there’s also breaking, BMX freestyle and skateboarding. Place de la Concorde is the largest public square in Paris, in the heart of the city. The 5x5 basketball games will be played in two arena’s; the Bercy Arena in Paris for the final week and the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille for the group phase. So 5x5 basketball will not only be played in Paris, but also in Lille!
Besides the venues of the games, let’s not forget that training is an essential part of these top athletes. Because the importance of training, there are also some training locations in Paris and Lille. For example, one in the Cité du Cinéma. This is a film studios located in Saint-Denis, very close to Paris. For the Olympics, it’s completely transformed to a training facility!
Let’s get ready for an amazing event! Only a few more weeks to wait. We want to wish our technicians good luck and a lot of fun for this amazing event!
