Germany has hosted a FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup again after 1998. It made the wait count. Sixteen federations arrived in the capital between September 4th and 13th — the tournament's first 16-team field since 2018 — split across four groups and two competition venues: the 14,000-seat Berlin Arena and the 9,000-capacity Max-Schmeling-Halle.
Host-nation energy carried the room from tip-off. Germany's opener sold out Berlin Arena at 12,550. By the time the bracket narrowed to championship weekend, the tournament had already pushed close to 200,000 fans through the turnstiles across its first 33 games — an average nearing 6,000 a night. #WeOwnTheGame wasn't just a hashtag. It was the mood in the building for ten straight days, and it peaked on Sunday, with 12,650 fans inside Berlin Arena for the final.

The FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 brought together the world's best athletes, teams and federations on Basketball's biggest stage. From emerging stars to established legends, the tournament showcased the very highest level of the game. At its conclusion, Team USA lifted the trophy, proving once again why they remain the global benchmark in women's Basketball.
BUILDING A LEGACY BEYOND THE ARENA
Building champions starts long before the final whistle. As part of the tournament legacy, Schelde Sports partnered with Here to Hoop Berlin to refurbish and reopen a community basketball court at YAAM near the Uber Arena. The project provides young athletes with greater access to basketball and supports the next generation of players.
